It SNOWED!!!!!

I'm one of those crazy people that actually LIKE the snow to come to me. It was a "requirement" when we decided to move to The Dalles. This winter we got one day of snow in November and a LOT of rain. Until Wednesday that is :)
I'm sure anyone who watched the news saw the the Northwest got pounded on Wednesday, with some places getting over a foot of snow. We got some of it, though not quite a foot sadly. After days of a light dusting that melted off by 10 am, my daughter was extatic to see several inches in our yard with more coming down. She could barely wait to suit up and go play!
So while I shoveled out the car so I could go to work, Zoe had a ball running through the yard and making snow angels! By this time I was cursing the fact that we didn't live in the Portland Metro area where everything shuts down when it snows... I wanted to make snow angels too dang it!

Anyway, we got in the car and went putting along to daycare. I dropped Zoe off, and in an attempt to get myself turned around on the basically unplowed road got the car stuck! I probably should have taken a picture of that, but hey, this way there's no evidence other than my highly embellished story! So I'm in the car, inching forward and then backing around since forward wasn't really working (I should probably also mention that our daycare is on one of the uphill roads in The Dalles and there are NO "slight grades" around here) and backed into the snow burm from people, and presumably a snowplow at some point, driving by. After about 5 minutes this nice kid came up from shoveling his sidewalk and asked if I needed help. OF COURSE I NEEDED HELP!!!! He then set about digging snow from under my tires, for which I was very grateful. I went back to daycare to see if there was any sand or kitty litter I could use for traction and came up with some ice melt. When I went back out there was a man (and I must say he was a genius) who had parked at the bottom of the hill and walked up to get his chains (see? GENIUS!). He made sure I was indeed intentionally trying to point my car down the hill and then offered to push while I tried one more time to move the car forward. Victory!!!! I didn't dare stop the car again so I just leaned out my window and shouted my thanks to these two helpful strangers and went on my merry way to the office.
I would have much preferred a snow day to play with Zoe, but I guess we don't always get everything we want, now do we?
